Wednesday's Dinner

Well, so far the last 24 hours have been a wild ride. As some of you know, Sister Kathy and I had to rush up to Dad's because both Dad and Shirley are in the hospital. Shirley was admitted on Monday and has blood clots on her lungs. Dad was admitted yesterday morning for what has turned out to be a stroke. They are in separate rooms but share a wall. This picture was taken yesterday after we arrived. Shirley came for a visit right before Dad went for his MRI.

Shirley hasn't been out of bed since. Dad is bored and wants to come home but other than that is in good spirits. He finds the hospital food very high on the NOM scale. At lunch he tried to eat the soup with his fork. That's about the level of confusion he has. Trouble with our names too. They won't tell us when either one of them will be released. Shirley is worse off and having a heart stress test tomorrow. We haven't talked to the doctor today so our information is sketchy...just what Nurse Donna could read off the chart and you know how messy doctor's writing can be. I'm not feeling at all confident in his care. They are not aware of all of Shirley's ailments, especially that her aortic aneurysm has a leak. Worrisome to me because of the blood thinners she's taking. When we asked the nurse about this, she kind of shrugged her shoulders.

As luck would have it, yesterday was also Step Sister Missy's birthday. We took her for some cocktails after visiting hours last night and then to the Carson Valley Inn (CVI) for a little more cocktails, gambling and dinner. Missy has become quite the caregiver up here for Dad and Shirley. We're very lucky to have her.

I had chicken fried steak w/biscuits and gravy. Hit the NOM spot for sure!

I want to come home now...

Talk to you later.
