Saturday's Dinner

Kecky's INFINITY NOM burgers!

So the day started with the grand opening of the first campground in San Francisco, Rob Hill, here in the Presidio. Becky and many other folks have been working for months on this project. It's beautiful!!

Here's our executive director, Craig giving the opening comments:

We also started a program called Camping at the Presidio (CAP) with a few other partner agencies. This brings inner-city kids and other groups to Rob Hill to experience camping. It's a very cool program. One of the young women who was part of the opening speaches was a senior from Oceana High School. Oceana is my rival high school in Pacifica, but that's besides the point. Evidently, this camping experience changed this gal's life. Her comments were very moving as were all the others. It felt so good to see that what we do here on the Presidio is really having an impact on some folk's lives. So I don't just sit in an office and type after all...

Here's a picture of our ever-diligent mounted United States Park Police:

And here is a picture of Applejack-Ass:

I'm not entirely sure why Applejack-Ass was there. I originally thought it was Craig's sweet ride to the event, but I think Applejack-Ass was part of some interpretation of the De Anza Trail.

While we were at the event, we ended up hanging out with Amy-Mae, II. Turns out Amy-Mae, II was footloose and fancy free given her man, Sam-I-Am was out of town in Temecula trying to get in touch with his spiritual side...so we convinced Amy-Mae, II to hang out with us for the day. Heh, heh, heh!

One of the other events of the day was to make a brief stop into the Riptide for Tom and Gayle's Annual Kentucky Derby Party. So we did and had a mint julep. The bartender had written the drink specials on the little chalkboard but turns out, he's got a phobia about touching chalk, so Poppy thought it would be a good idea if I redid his board. He said he'd give me a julep for my services. I wanted a mimosa instead. So I redid his board with the help of Poppy (the mint was her idea) and Amy-Mae, II (she wrote down the drink specials so I could remember what to write on the board). Looked good I thought!

From there, with my Mound-O-Meat in hand, we headed to our final destination...Sister Kathy, et. al.'s retirement party for Darryll. Such a fun and NOM time!! Sister Kathy and Bro-In-Law-Darryll give the best parties! We ended up playing Rockband most of the night. Too much fun was had and now I'm very tired.

Well off to grocery shop.

Have a great Sunday!
