As you know from Poppy's message, yesterday we had many reasons to celebrate and boy, howdy, that's what we did. Started at our Kickass-Agent-Lynnea's house for some bubbly and then continued to The Peaks bar for a beer and then off to find food. We ended up at a tapas (no, not topless) place called Contigo Kitchen & Cava. INFINITY NOM!! Not just the food either, the entire experience. Just like the first time we went to A16.
Since we were celebrating, we decided to throw caution to the wind as well as our wallets and bought a $64 bottle of sherry...that's a 375ml of sherry. Worthy every penny!
It's called Apostoles, Palo Cortado Muy Viejo. It's a Manzanilla sherry that didn't cut the mustard so it was aged in oak for 30 years. Poppy can tell you all about the grape and how it's made. Very cool stuff.
We had the following:
Jamon Iberico de bellota "Pata Negra", acorn fed, aged 36 months.
Garden Lettuces with cherries, cana de oveja, toasted hazelnuts and px vinagretta.
Wood roasted local sardine and avocado toasts with pickled onion
Tripe with chorizo and chickpeas from the wood oven
Coca (flatbread) of broccoli rabe, caramelized onions, chili flakes and manchego. To that we added a farm egg and fatted calf bacon
Here's how good it was...
And just for fun:
Well, I've made myself hungry all over again.
TTFN!
