Well that was a whirl-wind trip!

First I'll start off with last night's dinner. Decided that a lasagna would be good (Dad calls it labanya) so that's what I made. I didn't really follow a recipe but I used a mix of ricotta and cottage cheese. Poppy said that's how MomJean makes hers, but I think there was an egg involved. I also used spinach, basil and a little baby arugula. Pretty darn NOM!

I know you're all dying to know how our WEEKEND IN THE LIFE OF DAD turned out. Well, let's start at the beginning. We arrived on Thursday afternoon. The plan was to assess, make a plan for the next day and then go check-in at the Carson Valley Inn. Well, our assessment turned out to be a work day. When we arrived the place looked like a bomb hit it. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Sister Missy took just about everything, but still it was very overwhelming to know that we had two days to get the place cleared out. So Seester Kathy started sorting stuff that was going to 1800-GOT-JUNK and I cleared out the cabinets, dishwasher and packed up the last of the dishes. Dad worked on the yard. We made a pretty good dent, but the worst was yet to come. By the way, Shirley was a little OCD about cleaning. I could fill at least 3 large boxes with all the cleaning supplies.

We checked in at the CVI and then headed to the casino for cocktails and then Dinner at CV Steaks. So we're sitting there at the bar playing poker and Kathy hits a royal flush for $1,764!!...not 5 minutes later, Dad hits a royal flush for $1,000!!!

Crazy! I know, you were waiting for me to say I won. I didn't. I'm the kiss of death when I sit down to any machine.

So off to dinner we go. Dad is a little camera shy, but check out the size of the mutant potato!

So right about mid-dinner I get a call from Sean from 1800-GOT-JUNK. He asks if it's okay if they come by a little earlier than the 3:00-5:00 window we had previously been quoted. He wanted to come by about 11:00. That was fine but we'd just have to get up much earlier to finish getting all the junk ready. So we did. We filled about two-thirds of the junk truck. The guys, Sean and Greg, were great and they swept out the entire garage when they were done!

So now we had to go get the U-Haul truck. Lucky for us, we got the very last truck in the entire towns of Minden and Gardnerville. Meanwhile, Seester Kathy has been cleaning the house using her choice of the many cleaning products mentioned earlier. She had a couple of fights with Dad's Million Dollar Kirby vacuum...she won!

Okay, now we pack the truck. Part of the contents of the truck are Shirley's beloved cactus'. One of which is about 7 foot tall and has lots of arms..with big spikes on them. It's in the background of this picture. Let's call this the "before" picture.

So Seester Kathy and I try to get it in the truck. After a bloody accident...here's the "after" picture...

I swear, it was like a murder scene. The cactus bled white sticky milk all over the place. Unlike Aloe, this stuff has some kind of poison in it judging from the rash I got on my arm. Anyhoo, we have high hopes of saving the arms and making new cactus babies.

By now, Seester Kathy and I are over this fun weekend. We're both tired and just want to be home. We worked until about 3:00 but we got it all done and that includes all the yard work that Dad was doing in the 90+ degree heat! So now it was time to go relax. So back to the casino we go...Dinner was awesome! Check out Wilma with her Flintstone lamb shank:

Well, that was that. We met with Jim-The-Real-Estate-Agent on Saturday morning and then hit the road. Got home around 3:00, unloaded stuff at the New-Overstuffed-Kasa-Kecky and then headed to McClellan Manor to unload the rest. Had a cheers and a hug with Seester Kathy and Poppy were on our merry way.

So glad that's over with and we can just about close this chapter.

I know you're probably wondering about Dad and the Bunnies...we'll, he decided he wanted a relationship and not just a bunny-hop. But the good news is, Seester Kathy told me this morning that Dad has been chatting it up with the French lady who lives down the street from them. Evidently, she's asked Dad out to dinner!

To be continued...

Au revoir, mon cheri!
