So what's all the hub-bub around the food truck scene?

I've eaten from at least 5 food trucks between San Francisco and Hawaii and I just don't get it.  None of it was "great".  Some of it was "okay" and some of it left me feeling nauseous for most of the next day.  Is it a foodie thing?  Do folks normally eat crappy food so this is good?  I can't imagine.  I was telling Seester about it and said if she put her lasagna and chicken-n-dumplings on a food truck, she's be a millionaire!  But then I think maybe I'm such a neophyte cook that I don't know what great food is.  Could that be?  Probably since I think everything tastes better if there is cottage cheese on top of it.

I didn't cook at all this weekend since we spent most of our time taking in the Golden Gate Bridge birthday festivities.  I hate crowds.  I don't really like people in general...except for most of the ones I know.  So, I don't know why I do this to myself.  It makes me cranky and in turn makes Normally-Patient-Poppy cranky; I tend to whine the hole time.

Fortunately for me it was hurricane force winds down on Crissy Field and Allergy-Poppy got all drippy so we got to go home.  Well, we didn't go home, we went to the Riptide and saw a band...but then I got cranky again and we went home and ordered Chinese from Hong's.  Salt-N-Pepper Pork Chop!!

This morning I had some leftover stew and decided to make what I called "Gringo Huevos Rancheros".  Pretty freakin NOM too!

Well, that's all I got.  Been a great weekend, except for that crowd stuff and a mild case of bad pork bun poisoning...

Later.

Did I mention...

That this Blogger site reformatted there whole site.  I hate it and now I dread writing! Whatever!

Okay, I've been busy in the kitchen since getting back from vacation.  Seester gave me a few cookbooks on cast iron cooking.

Here's a chicken.  This one is way, way NOMMIER than my Nom Nom Chicken!

Want the recipe?  You can't have it, it's at home.

It was a Dad weekend so I made stew on Saturday.  It cooked for 5 hours!

I know, I need to work on my food porn.  Picture-Perfect-Poppy said she'd take my food pictures, but she usually has to take a bunch of pictures to get the right one and I'm impatient!

Last night we had BLTAs...mine was sans the bread so it was basically a BLTA salad.

Oh, wait a minute...I do have some food porn!  Check it out:

It's a navel orange...who knew they could have an "outtie".

Jax-The-Cheese-Connesewer has had quite the photogenic weekend.

Here's the queen on her pillows.  Poppy is in the background fanning Jax with a big palm frond and feeding her grapes:

Speaking of porn...

Bro-In-Law-Darryll, Niece-Ashley and Niece-Ashley's-BF-Adam ran the Bay to Breakers yesterday.  Note the time on the clock in the background...yeah, it's 5:45am on a Sunday! Couldn't pay me to get up that early.

They (Seester included) were in the neighborhood so they all stopped in for a quick visit.  Niece-Ashley got a new camera so she took some picks of Jax:

That's it.  Later.

Happy Mother's Day!

Does it count if my dog (and Poppy) celebrate me on Mother's Day?  I think YES!

To be honest, this is the one day of the year where I'm reminded that my Mom hasn't been around since 1982...that's such a long time, but I still remember her like it was yesterday.  I miss her all the time, but especially today.

That said, here are a few of my most favorite Moms. These ladies have raised wonderful children and I feel lucky that they've been in my life:

First off, my Seester.  She's my most favorite Mom in the whole world.  We've been through all kinds of stuff...She's my Seester and my best friend...Not to mention, she gave us Nephew-Lucas almost 25 years ago.  He's a smart, sweet and hysterically funny young man.

Friend and Family Member-Laurie.  I've known Laurie almost my entire life. You know how when someone comes into your life that has such a positive impact that you know life wouldn't be the same had that person not been in it? That's Laurie.  She's always happy and positive.  She gave us Matt and Meghan.  Both very nice young folk!

My next favorite Mom is Boss-K.  Again, she's another person who has made my life better and made me a better person for having her in my life.  She made two beautiful, intelligent and crazy funny daughters.  Since my dog doesn't have opposable thumbs, these are the two gals that I've picked to take care of me in my old age!

Last but not least...MomJean.  She gave me Poppy!!  She's thoughtful, caring and has a very adventuresome spirit!  I know who Adventure-Poppy got that from!

Enjoy your special day!!!

Looooookkkkkkkkk...

Faster than a speeding Hoover.
More powerful than a Dyson.
Able to suck big fat dust-balls in a single sweep.

Look! Over in the diningroom!
It's a maid, it’s a domestic engineer; no, it’s SUPERSUCKER!

What day is it?

Who cares...I'm on vacation!

So this blog site I use has redesigned itself completely.  I'm thinking about giving this up.  Can't seem to find the time to write in it anyway.  I will think upon this further.

Odd thing, since turning 50 those few days back, I've started having hot flashes (aka, power surges).  I guess 50 is the magic number!  Whatever.  I remarked to Seester...If I were skinny and had a shaved head, I'd enjoy Hawaii so much more.  As I write this, I'm sitting in a pool of my own sweaty juices.

Today we leave Honolulu for Kaanapali.  This is the part of the trip where Adventure-Poppy and I will be on our own.  YAY!

We had no intention of renting a car while in Maui, but Depression-Era-Poppy compared the cost of renting a car for our stay and the shuttle too and fro the airport and the car is cheaper.  Go figure.

Ick.
