Thursday's Dinner

We had two very large artichokes. Served them with mayo laced with soy sauce. Infinity NOM!!

Not much to report other than it's Friday!! Tomorrow, Poppy and I will be heading to Yats on California/Divisadero for all you can eat crawfish boil! I'll try to remember to take some pics.

Speaking of pics, here's Jax-The-Cheese-Connesewer in one of her finest positions. She actually likes sitting like this. I'm thinking of changing her name to "Contort-a-Jax".

So Sister Kathy brought me a blurb from the Pacifica Tribune that Terra Nova High School class of '80 is having their 30 year reunion and they're looking for long-lost classmates. Uh huh, I'm one of them. The blurb says I can go on Facebook and search "Terra Nova" or gives a couple of email addresses. I go on Facebook and type in Terra Nova and I get the class of 1991. So typical of a Terra Nova graduate to get something wrong! I finally found the right class. Turns out, I recognize two of the folks on the reunion committee. Pretty weird for me given I didn't know hardly anyone from high school. I was the fat chick in the hiking boots and hoodie that you'd see in the smoking lot all the time puffing away. Why they gave me a diploma, I'll never know. Anyhow, one of the gals on the committee is Janet Matias. She was one of those popular girls or as Close-Family-Friend Laurie calls "TSP" (thinks she's popular). I remember that Janet had Dumbo ears and came to school wearing these headbands cause she had her ears operated on so they wouldn't stick out.

The other gal I recognized is Gina Saucedo. We were friends when we were little. She lived down the street on Zamora. I have two memories that stand out. One, where she and I were in her backyard digging up every long-dead pet she ever had so we could look at the bones. The other was that her Father told me that in Japanese, the colors red and black together mean death and I should never wear that combination. That has stuck with me all these years. Anyhow, I've emailed Gina to see if she remembers me. Since I was such a loner in high school, I'm not entirely sure I would go to the reunion. Maybe I would if Fatass could lose those extra 25 pounds!

Y'all have a nice weekend!

Wednesday's Dinner

Was not for the faint of heart. I'll put the picture at the end cause I don't want to scare you off...

Dad came home with us to stay for a while with Sister Kathy, et. al. He figures even if he's bored at least it's a change of scenery for him. As you know, the reason we went up to Dad's was to take him to the doctors. Test results came back for both Dad and Shirley. Dad has Alzheimer's. They put in on a med that will help a little with the memory. Turns out, in addition to all of Shirley's health issues, she had a small stroke and is now diabetic so looks like there might be some rough road ahead. Sure wished they lived closer!

Back to dinner...It was Dad, me, Poppy, Sister Kathy, Bro-n-Law Darryll, Niece Ashley and Close-Family-Friend Laurie, oh, and Jax-The-Cheese-Connesewer. Since I'd been talking up the Tee-Off, we all decided we'd have dinner there. Poppy and I shared the Argentinian Blood Sausage (I know, but it was soooo NOM) and a Buffalo burger, Sister Kathy and Close-Family-Friend Laurie got the last two orders of Mac-n-Cheese, Bro-n-Law Darryll got the Argentinean Blood Sausage, Niece Ashley got the gluten-free Buffalo burger (i.e., sans the bun) and Dad got a side of beef. Everyone moaned and groaned over their meals and a good time was had by all! Especially Jax-The-Cheese-Connesewer. She worked the room like a homeless person begging for change only everyone thinks she cute. I kept watching this old guy giving her French fry after French fry to the point where she was doing tricks for him. She should have been ashamed of herself. I was embarrassed for her!

Update on the housing front...we're going to meet the tenants in the unit on the Bryant Street Condo just to see what their deal is. But we're also going to continue to look. Time is of the essence now since the $8,000 tax credit will expire at the end of this month. We would also be eligible for the State's $10,000 tax credit. MUST FIND HOUSE!!

That is all. Bye bye...

I've lost my appetite!

Remember how our offer on the Bryant Street condo was verbally accepted? Well guess what? We knew there were tenants occupying the place, but on the listing and verbally from the Seller's agent, the Tenants were to move out at the close of escrow. Not so fast there, Sparky! Seems they just can't seem to find a place in the Mission for the price they want to pay. At least that's one of the reasons we've been told that the Seller can't guaranty that the Tenants will be gone by the time escrow closes. So, after much back and forth, the last idea was that the Seller would lower the price of the condo and we'd buy it with the Tenants in tow. But here's the thing, because San Francisco is renter friendly, in order to evict the Tenants, we would have to pay each of them just about $5,000 plus moving expenses. Oh, and if they're old or disabled, add another few grand to that amount. So Poppy and I are very disheartened at the moment. The deal isn't dead but it's definitely in a coma right now. Funny thing, Poppy went on Craigslist and found at least two places in the Mission that would take a dog where the price was well within the Tenant's budget. We think there's something fishy in Denmark...or the Mission. Jerks!

Sister Kathy and I just got back from a whirl-wind trip to Minden to take care of Dad's doctor's appointment for his memory loss. Dad's appointment was at 12:30 yesterday. Shirley also wanted to talk to the doctor cause she was feeling really bad but didn't want to go to the hospital, because it's quicker if you go see the doctor and if he wants you in the hospital, they'll call an ambulance for you and you get to bypass the ER. Little tricks they've learned over the years. Okay, so Dad, Shirley, Sister Kathy, Step-Sister Missy (aka, Dick) all go marching into the little doctors office with the nurse. She said she's going to take Dad's blood pressure. Well, you know me and Sister Kathy and how we like a good time, right? So Sister Kathy tells Dad he needs to take off his clothes to get his blood pressure. I say "Show us your penis!" I don't' exactly remember what the nurse said but it was something like "you must have had fun raising these two."

After seeing the doctor, they both were given paperwork for blood work and CT Scans. While they were getting their blood work done, I thought I'd try to speed up the process so I called the Great Basin Imaging place to get them both an appointment for the CT Scans. Lucky for us, they could take them one right after the other yesterday. The gal asked me what the doctor wrote as the reason for both of their Scans. So I looked on Dad's paper and it said "confusion". I looked on Shirley's paper and it also said "confusion". I told the gal it was confusion for both of them. She said "Ohhhh...bless their little hearts."

As you can see, I've attached a picture of Jax-The-Cheese-Connesewer. I've been gone for almost three days so I wanted you to see how much she missed me.

Ciao!

Friday's Dinner

We met our friends, Renee and Jean-Carlos for Shabu Shabu at My Shabu House on Geary. What is Shabu you might ask? It's Japanese beef fondue. Basically each table has a hot plate that you put a pot of broth on and then bring it to a boil and you cook your beef or lamb, veggies and udon. Put it in the pot and stir it all around and call it dinner! It's very fun and really NOM!

So Poppy and I are in the throws of finalizing our offer for our new Kasa Kecky in the Mission. That begs the question: What are people who live in the Mission called? Missioners, Missionites or Missionaries (so not my favorite). If you know what we're called, let me know. If everything goes well, we should be in contract Monday or Tuesday next week. Interesting since Sister Kathy and I are going up to Dad's tomorrow and won't come back until Tuesday. Say, this reminds me of a story....

A few years back, Poppy and I, Sister Kathy and Nephew Lucas went up to Dad and Shirley's for a visit. Step Sister Missy already had moved in with them. Anyhow, Dad and Shirley take us all to Fiona's for dinner. Understand that Dad and Shirley gamble at the Carson Valley Inn (aka CVI) and get comps for all the $$$ they drop. That means we all get free dinner at Fiona's...which happens to specialize in meat! Oh yeah! So, we go there and the waitress comes to the table and some of us happen to be wearing red. This prompts the waitress to say to us..."You know, never go to Disneyland on 'Red Shirt Day' cause that's when all the gays go!" Now, I'm sitting at a table with two other lesbians besides myself...who happen to be in red shirts. So this waitress keeps going on about all the gays at Disneyland on Red Shirt Day. I'm sitting across from Sister Kathy who is doing the motion of her hand across her neck which is her silent way of saying to me DON'T SAY ANYTHING. I look at Nephew Lucas and his eyes are so big they're about to pop out of their sockets. I look at Poppy and she's just shaking her head. I look at Step Sister Missy who is cracking up. So finally the gal goes away and Shirley says: "YOU'RE NOT IN KANSAS ANYMORE..."

Well, That's all I have for you...

I'll be at Dad's until Tuesday so I'll check in after I get back. I'm sure I'll have lots to report!

P.S. The picture is Jax-The-Cheese-Connesewer's toy. I bought it at the NPS store. It's a Peregrine Falcon...I imagine it's still an endangered species. Jax likes to kill it!

Breaking news...

Poppy and I are homo-owners!!! Our offer was accepted on 2724 Bryant Street/25th. It's a top floor condo and is perfect for us. It's 1,300 square feet and have really good light AND we'll be living in the heart of the Mission. I'm very excited but still in shock. I wonder what we'll do with our Sundays from now on...

Thursday's Dinner

Had a date to meet Pal-Nancy. It was actually to be a foursome but Poppy was very busy at work and Tiela was out of town. I decided that for the first time in my 47 or 48 (I can't remember how old I am) years, that I'd go have a cocktail in a bar by myself so that's what I did. But here's the kicker, our dinner ressy was at Zadin in the Castro and the bar right next door is called Moby Dick...get it? Poppy and I have been in there a few times, but it's pretty much a man-bar. So I sucked it up, went in and ordered my Manny on the rocks. The bartender was very nice and nobody spit on me so it was a success. Dinner was really good and a very nice visit with Pal-Nancy...but as usual, I drank too much and now I'm suffering for it today. Play you pay.

Here is today's story...my co-worker just came in and said "Can I ask you a technical question?" I said "Sure." She said "Have you ever hit the keyboard with your boob? I did and now my screen is rotated." I told her that before my breast reduction, I hit many things with my boobs. I think I even put some eyes out. So we came to the conclusion that she hit the Ctrl and right arrow at the same time and caused her screen to rotate.

Happy Friday...

Wednesday's Dinner

...Was pizza!!! I was going to make it, but then discovered I had two coupons from Pizza Orgazmica in my wallet that happen to expire yesterday. I had asked Sister Kathy for a ride home cause of the hurricane that was blowing through and it just so happened that I had some Cava so she stayed for Cava and pizza. We ordered a large Orgazmica and a large Cheekie Tomatoe w/black olives. I figured I'd be able to use both coupons, but Pizza-Face-Brian said I could only use one coupon. What a rip! I did my best to sway his decision...I even tried joking with him. The kid had no sense of humor whatsoever. Then he had the nerve to ask me if I wanted a salad or garlic sticks to go with. I said I would but only if I can use my second coupon. Baaa-dump-bump. Dead silence on the other end of the phone. Whatever.

Oh, I forgot to take a picture of the pizzas but this is what they look like today.

Okay, here's another little story. Ever since I was a kid I've had this thing about the time 3:33. I frequently wake up in the wee hours and will look at the clock and it says 3:33. Sometimes sitting at my desk I look at the clock and what does it say? Yeah, 3:33. I've done Internet research, I've looked up just about every bible chapter/verse 3:33 but nothing...until last night. Poppy and I were watching The Face of Jesus. Interesting in itself, but check it out...Jesus died in 33AD and guess what day he allegedly rose from the dead? Uh huh...the 3rd day!! Could I be the second-coming? Could Poppy be the second-coming? Jesus was a carpenter and what is Poppy's last name? CARPENTER! Are the hairs standing up on the back of your neck? If I had any, they would be. Friend and Co-worker Laurie thinks it means I should be a nun. Sister Kathy thinks I'm the second immaculate contraception. :)

So that's all I've got for today. I'm off to perform some miracles...

Have a Blessed day!
